San Francisco International Airport has held a green opening for its totally revamped Terminal 2.

The terminal was constructed in part from recycled materials. The terminals toilets flush with reclaimed water, ‘open air’ design minimize the need for excessive lighting and the terminals vendor proudly sell organic food products. The terminal has already picked up much acclaim as well as awards for its forward thinking and sustainable expansion.

After 14 years and 380 million dollars the terminal marks a clear departure from traditional airport terminals. In addition to its environmental credentials the new ‘T2’ points a way to the future with high end dining, aqua stations to refill water bottles, a spa and massage area and funky, fresh design and innovation throughout. American airline and Virgin America which is based at T2 is hoping they will capture greater market share as travellers will want to start their journey in style and comfort at the revamped terminal.
