Many passengers traveling though Copenhagen International Airport are having their movements carefully observed, or rather their wi fi emitting smart phones are. Aviation communications and technology company SITA are able to monitor travel through the airport. This is said to provide the airport planners to better organize and understand where passengers go and what they do which may help security, immigration and baggage handling at the airport. Passengers can download an app which will enable them to receive location based advice and offers e.g. where the shortest security line is. Such technology might enable airports to better interact and monetize passengers which if born out by actual hard data might see many more airports take on the technology. Original story – NY Times.
