The good folks at Orbitz have put together a look at where people are going and what they’re doing on their summer vacations this year.
Some of the info is what you’d expect (top destinations include Las Vegas, Orlando, and Hawaii,) but there are some surprises too (there are great deals to be had in Vancouver, Cancun, and Rome.) 23% of travelers said they won’t go on vacation without their pet, and nearly 60% said they secretly check in with work while they’re off. (Stop doing that!) Europe’s economic woes and drops in airfares to the continent have made it a top tourism destination for American travelers, with river cruises particularly selling out more than a year in advance.
