Newark Airport Guide (EWR)

Newark Airport is 10-15 miles from NYC depending on where you start from or finish at. There are a range of routes and transportation options to choose from, making it a very popular choice for travelers.

Newark Airport has three terminals which are connected by the AirTrain and walkways for easy access to any of them. Each airline operates out of a specific terminal, with Delta Airlines, for example, based in Terminal B.

You can walk between all three terminals before clearing security thanks to walkways between them, however the AirTrain is a quicker option that stops at each terminal. Journeys between terminals are free.

There are 11 airport lounges at EWR split across the three terminals. You’ll find:

·       In Terminal A: Admiral’s Club (American Airlines), Delta Sky Club, United Club

·       In Terminal B: British Airways, Delta Sky Club, Lufthansa Senator, SAS, Virgin Atlantic

·       In Terminal C: United Club, United Club, United Polaris.

The only smoking areas at Newark Airport are outside of the three terminals. These are clearly signposted and easy to find. If you wish to smoke after clearing security, you’ll have to leave the terminal and go through the checks again when you return.

Currency Exchange International can be found in Terminal B, while Travelex ATMs are available in Terminals A and C. These ATMs can dispense different currencies from a limited selection.

There are two main ways to find out information about your flight while at EWR. The first option is to look at display screens located around the airport, with flights listed in order of departure time, to find out what gate you’re boarding from and when. You can also use an online tracker wherever you may be.

Charging stations can be found throughout Terminals B and C to make sure your devices are fully charged while you wait for your flight. Whether its your phone to keep in touch with friends and family or laptops to keep working while waiting to take off, you won’t be left depleted.

Newark Airport is open 24-hours a day, but security, check in desks, and some facilities and amenities will close at different times. If you plan to be in EWR overnight, you may find yourself restricted to the landside areas, which can be noisier and more disruptive.
